Extra Credit Assignment #2 - Writing
 Use Yahooligans! to search the web, or go to Britanica.com and research something that
interests you.  Next, use the information you fined to write an informative report that is well
organized (introduction and supporting paragraphs) and published for presentation before
the class.
Extra Credit Assignment #3 - Social Studies
 Start by pretending that you are an archeologist and take the virtual tour!  As
you go, think about your five senses and take notes about what you think it would
have been like to be the first person to discover and unlock the secrets of this
ancient tomb.  The focus of this extra credit paper is for you to demonstrate your
ability to share detaits and ideas in your writing.
  When the tour is over, use your notes to write a fictional story about your
adventure in the tomb.  Use your imagination and have fun with the story.  It is
meant to be fiction.  You can write your story about a tomb raider, an
archeologist, an ancient Egyptian or even about the mummy itself!

Accelerated Assignment/Extra Credit Assignment #4 - Social Studies and Writing
Part 1
 Create a large timeline poster to be displayed
in the classroom that will inform the class about
the history of pyramids in ancient Egypt.  Your
timeline needs to include nine events and a
written summary of each on the poster itself.
  The information you need to complete this
assignment can be found by clicking the picture
of the pyramids to the right.
Part 3
Write a paragraph answering each of the
questions below.  Be sure to give information
from your research to support your answers.

1. Why do you think they began building pyramids  
 again during the beginning of the Middle Kingdom?
2. Why do you think they stopped building the
 pyramids after 1790 BC?
3. Write a short essay that addresses the question:
 "Should they restore the Great Pyramids at Giza?"
 Include paragraphs that give at least three
 reasons why they should, and three reasons why
 they should not restore the pyramids.
 Read the story about the pyramids at Giza
and then explore the pyramid complex.  Create
a diagram of Khufus's pyramid complex to
share with the class.  Be sure to add
descriptions of the different parts of the
complex.  You can combine this with Part 1 of
this assignment to create one large poster.

Extra Credit Assignment #5 - #7 - Math
 Create a Solution Poster that clearly explains how to solve a problem from the chapter we are
currently studying in our math text.

 Write a book of word problems with an answer key and step by step instructions, on a
separate page, that describe how to solve each problem.  Make sure that you create the types of
math problems we are currently studying in math.

 Write an essay that explains how people use math at home, work, or play.  The number of
points you receive for this assignment will depend on both
DETAIL and accuracy (Do not just
make a list.  Explain how math is used).

Extra Credit Assignment #8 - Social Studies or Reading
Compare and contrast two ancient Greek heroes.  Be sure that
you organize your writing into paragraphs and compare or
contrast at least three traits or facts about the two heroes.

You can also go to this site just to learn about the myths in a fun
and entertaining way.
